AVAILABLE SOLID STATE HARD DRIVE
For extremely rough applications, the Eden Rugged Tablet PC line of Industrial Computers / Vehicle Mounted Computers are available with a solid state flash drive, to guarantee the ultimate in shock tolerance and durability. However, it is important to note that the existing 2.5" vehicle rated IDE hard drive in the standard system is perfectly capable of handling the majority of vehicle mount applications without any shock, vibration or temperature issues.
The Eden Rugged Tablet PC SSD Flash drive upgrade is ideal for vehicle computers applications, which require light weight components operating with low power consumption values and high reliability. We specifically recommend these drives for applications that involve harsh vehicular environments or environments where high altitudes are involved (such as in experimental aircraft). These solid-state drives have no moving parts and conform to industry standard 2.5" form factors. Upgrading an Eden Rugged Tablet PC from a regular mobile hard drive to a solid state drive will not only increase reliability in the toughest of environments, but also increase battery life by 10%*, as SSD drives require less power to operate.
SSD Flash Drives perform like traditional mechanical hard disk drives but offer the speed of Flash storage devices and in fact produce zero noise levels. Flash drives are typically not as fast as regular hard drives (Interface Transfer Rates: 16.6MB/sec. (PIO Mode 4), 66MB/sec. (UDMA Mode 4)) and thus should not be used with drive write intensive applications but do provide an obvious advantage when it comes to rigidity and the ability to work in tough environments. We currently offer flash drives in 16gb and 32gb sizes for any of our industrial vehicle mounted computers.
SUNLIGHT READABLE TOUCH SCREEN LCD
All Eden Rugged Tablet PC's / Vehicle Computers features a unique high brightness sunlight readable touch screen display that is ideal for vehicle and industrial environments. Not to small to use, and not to big to become a distraction. The LCD panel enables the display to be readable in sunlight and daylight conditions and the brightness can be turned up or down by using the integrated menu buttons and onscreen display. The displays on our line of Rugged Tablet PC's use transmissive / transflective technology which works by actually bouncing ambient light back through the LCD panel, to effectively create brightness, in very bright conditions, so the monitor is always clear and visible.
The integrated touch panel on our systems makes using the computer without a conventional mouse a breeze and is compatible with any application that has mouse support. Simply touch the LCD panel with your finger or a stylus to move and click the cursor.
WINDOWS XP™ COMPATIBLE
Eden Rugged Tablet PC's / Industrial Computers / Vehicle Mounted Computers are capable of running any Windows XP™ compatible application including office suite software, communication applications, dispatch software and more. In addition, the system is capable of utilizing any third party peripherals and related hardware that are compatible with Windows XP, including but not limited to wireless modems, GPS adapters, vehicle diagnostic scanners, swipe card readers, biometric scanners, external storage devices and video cameras. Software can be loaded onto the system via an external USB DVD/CD drive (optional), external USB drive (optional), or network connection. The advantages of an in-vehicle computer running a full featured operating system like Windows XP, make it a clear and viable alternative to the limited systems running embedded flavors of Linux as well as Windows CE. |
