The Eden Rugged Tablet PC line of vehicle computers is comprised of highly integrated, state-of-the-art embedded Windows XP™ based rugged computer platforms designed for mounting in a vehicle. These systems feature an all in one rugged tablet PC design which integrates a sunlight readable touch screen LCD panel and the computer into a single enclosure. The Rugged Tablet PC's also feature a integrated battery which allows them to be taken out of the vehicle and used in the field should your application require this functionality.
Eden Vehicle Mounted Computers operate much like regular home or office PCs, except they are specially designed to work in a vehicular environment. The rugged all in one tablet pc design is also suitable for industrial computing environments such as medical use, warehousing and factory automation.
Each Eden Rugged Tablet PC / Vehicle Mounted Computer features a Microsoft Windows XP™ operating system, sunlight readable high brightness touch screen display, a fast low power consumption Intel CPU, 1gb of RAM and an 80gb mobile hard drive (solid state flash drives are also available). The powerful system configuration makes the line of Eden Vehicle Mounted Computers an excellent choice for multimedia, mobile office, mobile advertising, navigation, infotainment, dispatch, communication and connectivity applications
INSTALLATION AND MOUNTING
Eden Rugged Tablet PC's / Industrial Computers / Vehicle Mount Computers are compatible with any car, truck, service vehicle or marine vessel! Simply mount the system in the vehicle using any standard VESA 75mm (3") mounting system, or universal "gripping type" tablet pc mount, connect the power, plug in any optional accessories and you are ready to go. Each Eden Rugged Tablet PC system comes preloaded with Windows XP™.
Vehicle mounts are available from third parties for popular public service vehicle applications including the Ford Crown Victoria, Chevrolet Impala, Ford Expedition, Ford Excursion, Chevrolet Tahoe and more. We also offer a rugged metal mounting stand that is suitable for various mounting applications including in vehicle mounting, forklift mounting, dash mounting, ceiling mounting and desktop mounting.
RUGGED DESIGN
The Eden Rugged Tablet PC line of Vehicle Mounted Computers are designed to perform in even the harshest of environments. Our full rugged platforms features IP54 / IP65 compliant dust and waterproof enclosures (except IO ports), and meet all MIL810F anti-shock and anti-vibration specifications.
Each system features various expansion ports such as an RS-232 serial port and multiple USB ports. Each system will also have either a PCMCIA slot or ExpressCard slot to allow the easy connection of wireless modems.
All Eden Rugged Tablet PC / Industrial Vehicle Mounted Computers in standard form are operating temperature rated from -10-60C (14-140F) making them ideal systems for nearly any vehicular or industrial environment.
AVAILABLE SOLID STATE HARD DRIVE
For extremely rough applications, the Eden Rugged Tablet PC line of Industrial Computers / Vehicle Mounted Computers are available with a solid state flash drive, to guarantee the ultimate in shock tolerance and durability. However, it is important to note that the existing 2.5" vehicle rated IDE hard drive in the standard system is perfectly capable of handling the majority of vehicle mount applications without any shock, vibration or temperature issues.
The Eden Rugged Tablet PC SSD Flash drive upgrade is ideal for vehicle computers applications, which require light weight components operating with low power consumption values and high reliability. We specifically recommend these drives for applications that involve harsh vehicular environments or environments where high altitudes are involved (such as in experimental aircraft). These solid-state drives have no moving parts and conform to industry standard 2.5" form factors. Upgrading an Eden Rugged Tablet PC from a regular mobile hard drive to a solid state drive will not only increase reliability in the toughest of environments, but also increase battery life by 10%*, as SSD drives require less power to operate.
SSD Flash Drives perform like traditional mechanical hard disk drives but offer the speed of Flash storage devices and in fact produce zero noise levels. Flash drives are typically not as fast as regular hard drives (Interface Transfer Rates: 16.6MB/sec. (PIO Mode 4), 66MB/sec. (UDMA Mode 4)) and thus should not be used with drive write intensive applications but do provide an obvious advantage when it comes to rigidity and the ability to work in tough environments. We currently offer flash drives in 16gb and 32gb sizes for any of our industrial vehicle mounted computers.
SUNLIGHT READABLE TOUCH SCREEN LCD
All Eden Rugged Tablet PC's / Vehicle Computers features a unique high brightness sunlight readable touch screen display that is ideal for vehicle and industrial environments. Not to small to use, and not to big to become a distraction. The LCD panel enables the display to be readable in sunlight and daylight conditions and the brightness can be turned up or down by using the integrated menu buttons and onscreen display. The displays on our line of Rugged Tablet PC's use transmissive / transflective technology which works by actually bouncing ambient light back through the LCD panel, to effectively create brightness, in very bright conditions, so the monitor is always clear and visible.
The integrated touch panel on our systems makes using the computer without a conventional mouse a breeze and is compatible with any application that has mouse support. Simply touch the LCD panel with your finger or a stylus to move and click the cursor.
WINDOWS XP™ COMPATIBLE
Eden Rugged Tablet PC's / Industrial Computers / Vehicle Mounted Computers are capable of running any Windows XP™ compatible application including office suite software, communication applications, dispatch software and more. In addition, the system is capable of utilizing any third party peripherals and related hardware that are compatible with Windows XP, including but not limited to wireless modems, GPS adapters, vehicle diagnostic scanners, swipe card readers, biometric scanners, external storage devices and video cameras. Software can be loaded onto the system via an external USB DVD/CD drive (optional), external USB drive (optional), or network connection. The advantages of an in-vehicle computer running a full featured operating system like Windows XP, make it a clear and viable alternative to the limited systems running embedded flavors of Linux as well as Windows CE.
